The Virtues of a Messy Desk....

I'm a big believer in the idea that a tidy desk is akin to an uncreative mind! That's the reason I'm giving for the state my desk is in right now! How is it possible for one to create unless surrounded by mounds of inspiration! From pretty pictures drawn by my little 'angels' to fabric swatches, magazines and books. These are the things that make dreams come true....
Having said that however, I do like to clean up at the end of everyday, so that I have a fresh palette to mess upon tomorrow!

Ha! You should see mine at the moment. With the shop opening looming, it is a utter shambles. I love the storage unit and magazine holders. I have a huge lack of storage at the moment. xx

Oh Ness, you are so kind! Yes, storage, storage, storage - I can't sing its praises loudly enough - it has literally, saved my creative life!!!!

Love seeing pics of your place. Even your "mess" is creative! But my burning question is what white do you use on the walls?

Hi Nat,
Thanks! Well, I'm a stark white kind of girl - I love it straight out of the tin. It particularly suits this house - which gets a lot of sunshine which warms up the tone. I'm using Dulux White On White for a client at the moment - which is still very stark but probably not quite as clinical as her house doesn't get as much direct sunlight.
Hope all is well with you.

Oh, Shannon. Even your mess is divine! My mess just looks like mess. Can I sing along with you...
STORAGE STORAGE STORAGE
It has become my mantra for our small terrace!

Well Hello Primrose,
I find that when creating mess it's best to stick to some sort of colour coding - i.e keep all of your yellow mess together, or your green, blue etc - this way, even the messiest desk has a creative theme! It's much easier on the eye that way!!!
I can see a book in that - 'How To Creative Beautiful Mess...' An alternative to 'Speed Cleaning' perhaps!

Here here for a messy desk! Tho I love the idea of color coding the mess... I am going to have to give it a try as I am afraid my desk has gone beyond creative mess to small disaster! :-)
