My last post reminded me to remind you that the latest issue of my fave homely magazine Inside Out, has hit the stand. Please do check out my new look column 'Home Truths' - the page in the mag where IO's editor in chief, Karen McCartney, kindly allows me to write about all of the things that mean something to me. This months column is about gardening - and how good it can be for the soul. Hope you like reading it as much as I enjoy writing it...

I love Inside Out mag and I also loved your column this month on gardening. There is a great childrens book called Belonging by Jeanne Baker and it is all about an urban family who start gardening and how it changes the entire landscape of where they live. It's a very beautiful book with the message it has. I think it's so good for children to connect with growth and plants even in urban environments.
Hi Primrose,
Thanks so much - I'll have to check out Belonging - what a lovely title for a book. Gardening is such a big part of our lives up here - and I find it so fulfilling - even just pulling out the old weeds is very meditative. My mother is visiting from Sydney right now and spends most of her day outside talking to the plants. She has such a knack with them - one that I hope to develop too - with a little time and practice.
