Angels On My Walls

I had the pleasure a few weeks ago of meeting Hilary Herrmann, an artist whose work I adore, at Art Piece Gallery in Mullumbimby Australia. Here are a few paintings from her latest exhibition, '16 Angels Around My Bed' - work based upon the stories that her grandmother told her as a small child. I find that using art as a decorating tool is a such a lovely way to add texture and excitement to the decoration of your home. It doesn't have to be expensive art, unless of course, you have such an opportunity, more than anything it needs to be art that you love looking at and that tells a story that resonates in some way. Or it could simply be that the colours and forms work well in the space that you live in. A good way to begin a collection is to head to the end of year exhibition at your local art college or TAFE, where you are sure to find something within budget. If you are an art world novice then head to an affordable art shows (held in many cities and small towns) as it is a great way to see lots of artists on show at the one time.
