Words of Wearstler....

'When I sit down to create a space I just do what I feel. I don't look at trends; I just follow my heart. You have to be a bit of a free spirit to do this sort of work, you have to leave room for change because things never work out as you plan them. If you say 'I have to find this kind of chair' you'll never finish! You have to say 'I'm going to find stuff that's beautiful' and bring it all together like a painting.

Thanks to Domino magazine for bringing us these lovely words from Kelly Wearstler. This is what decorating is all about....

Lazy Sundays....

A lazy sunday shared with some friends around the table - in the Bahamas no less! Now, that's my idea of heaven...

Greek Days...

I think that Shirley Valentine had the right idea when she chose the Greek Islands as the place to play out her mid-life crisis! I mean, if you've lost yourself in a haze of nappies, school runs and chips and egg then it seems that the Greek Isles is a good a place as any from which to find your soul again! Long hazy days spent swimming in crystal blue waters - long nights eating lamb from the spit and drinking red wine - I know that when my mid-life hits (anytime now!) then I'll definately consider the virtues of Greece as my place of respite. I mean, who could ignore it's virtues - particularly when they come packaged with interiors like these. Note: surrounding oneself in a palette of green, blue and white is best in times of stress and confusion. Bring on the mid-life - and book me a ticket to Greece!

Rustic Country....

I'm sure that you've all worked out by now that I'm a complete sucker for all things country and rustic. For me, there's something just so alluring about lived in walls and textured interiors - about rooms filled with simple furnishings and gardens filled with wild flowers. These spaces feel so honest, so real - and I've always been one to look for the truth in things. I came across these pics at Country Living and thought I'd share them. Hope they evoke feelings of honesty in you too!

More Toast?

I just love the people over at TOAST - they're style is so textured and gritty whilst at the same time inspiring and uplifting. I love that looking at the pics is a bit like looking at a version of reality - although a touch more glam of course. Hope you like these pics from their catalogue.

Garden Days....

If there was one term that I would use to describe my style it would have to be 'relaxed'. Even though I love to use over the top wallpapers and colour in my interiors, what underpins every space that I decorate is the desire to create a relaxed and comfortable environment - the type that you can sink into, a place where you feel comfortable and right at home. An unpretentious space - that isn't always perfect. I guess that's why I love this pic so much. This outdoor space is intrinsically beautiful, without having to tamper with it too much. All that's required is a comfy table and chairs, some flowers from the garden and a cushion or two. Sometimes it is simple things that are required to be happy. To find peace and inner joy. And after all, isn't that what decoration is all about at its core - the desire for peace and joy. It couldn't be more simple than that...

La Belle Maison....

Well, I know that you all know how much I love all things French - and I'm particularly excited because I'm in the midst of planning a trip to France next year to celebrate turning the big four zero! As you can imagine, I'm spending every spare second doing my research on where to go and what to do - all the while getting myself into the French mood by checking out beautiful French interiors. This one is from Cote Sud - one of my fave Frenchy mags, and is situated somewhere in the South of France. I just love it's whitewashed walls and laid back feel- and the exterior shot just fills me with memories of my summer spent in the French countryside (many moons ago now). I hope these pics remind you of beautiful French summers too....

Zara Home...

Oooh, oooh, oooh - just had to share these pics from the Zara Home European catalogue that I have just seen on Apartment Therapy. I just love Zara Home - and have been known to stuff my suitcase full of their homewares whilst on holidays overseas. These pics are just divine, and represent perfectly Zara Home's eclectic style. Hope you love...

Wonderful White....

All this talk of beautiful light linens has got me thinking about white. And as it's almost summertime here, I felt it about time to showcase a few of my favourite white rooms. I found these on Desire to INspire and they are from Skona Hem. Enjoy
