Roses and Me....

I had to share a pic of my roses with you not just because I am so incredibly proud of how well they are doing out here in the garden but more so because I'm really kind of shocked that they are growing at all. You see, I've never had much experience with roses - I love them - but they always seemed a little too delicate to be able to cope with my renegade gardening style! It wasn't until a friend told me of their coping virtues and that they are great growers in almost anyone's patch that I decided to give it a shot. And didn't I underestimate the heart of these little babies. They are going great guns and flowering to boot. And what a beautiful addition they are to the garden. So much so, that I've added a few more....

Hi Shannon - just thought i would pop back and let you know which roses thrive here. We are in the Gold Coast hinterland so should be similar to where you are. The BEST is called Nahema (the brand is Delbard), its a climber - grows like a weed - the most beautifully scented blooms (and heaps of them) named after the Guerlain perfume Nahema (or perhaps the perfume is named after the rose??). Also have 2 others that seem to thrive here - The Childrens Rose and one called Athena! It was terrific to hear from you, Mel xx
