Bed Time Baby....

It's raining up here at the farm right now - and by raining, I mean a torrential downpour! And so I'm snuggled up in bed with a cup of chamomile tea and a writing pad and pen - jotting down what needs to be done over the week ahead. You see, I have to write lists - because without them, well, I'd just be chasing my tail! As my son Joe said to me the other day - 'mum, the information goes in, and then it just runs right out the other side!!!' - I think he may just take after me.... So, a list can help in these situations....You see, I only have just over a week to go before I head off on my 40 year old journey. I can't believe that it's come around this quickly - and whilst I feel relatively organised - there are still a million and one things to get done before I leave. And so here I am, sitting in my bed - writing my lists.... Now, if I can just remember to look at my list - then all will be well!

Hi Shannon,

First of all great blog as always love catching up on your news. Re your trip to Europe I know you are coming to France, Paris (maybe u would like to visit a just opened concept store called Merci it's in the 11th arrondissement 11 bd beaumarchais, it's supposed to be a new kind of charity type shop cos all profits go to a charity but it carries pretty expensive labels so on the whole it is expensive but the decor is quite something to see it belongs to the founders of the childrens brand Bonpoint which incidentally ha s a magnificent flagship store in the 6th, have a look on the web on google france u should be able to see both places. If u need some info about Paris don't hesitate I've lived here for 16 hears and am quite keen on this lovely city !!!
Another thing u mentioned going to Seville and I though I'd mention if u have the time and have not been to the south of portugal the quaint town of Tavira in the Algarve is only a 2 hours drive away from Seville and really pretty (my parents used to live there) If u go you must go up to the old castle. There's a lovely restaurant and café nested amond the trees at the top with a lovely view from a charming garden in the ruins of the castle walls. The museum builiding is also lovely; Behind it is the water tower and an observatory camara obscura and further on the tavira Pousada. The beach at barril about 5km on can be reached either by walking along a pine shaded path or in a small train for families. There is a strip of marshland along here it's a reserve for wild birds on the lagoon so u have to use the path to get to the other side for the real beach. A t some places u can also take a boat to cross over. You can discover some lovely pictures of the salt pans around the area on Keiko's beautiful food blog Nordjlus and also on Jane Cumberbatch's blog Pure where she talks about the renovation of an old house in Olhao a fishing town further along the coast. Her husband also has a business near Seville I think again u can check out the information on Keiko's blog and beautiful pictures of these parts. Anyway whatever u do I wish u a lovely holiday with your mom and a great birthday. Take care liz (ex south african resident of portuguese parents now living in paris france !!!)

I'm a great believer in list writing - I get so much more done if it's written down. Good luck with getting organised this week and I hope you have the trip of a lifetime. Tracey xx

Thank you thank you Liz,
I'll check out Merci - it sounds divine.
I'm also thinking about heading over the border to Portugal as mum hasn't been there either. Thanks so much for your tips.

You will have so much fun Shannon.

I am an avid list writer and since having the boys, it has become impossible for me to even go down to the corner store with out a list. Mic calls it 'Placenta Head'. Maybe you have it to!
