Country Style...

I'm very excited to see the new issue of Country Style has hit the stand, particularly because I styled the cover - and the photograph has been taken up here in Byron Bay by the one and only Prue Ruscoe. I'm so happy with the way that the cover has turned out - and I really love the ici et la fabric that I used for our makeshift shelter. It's so bright and colourful....

Hi Shannon,

I am so delighted to have found your blog today through Brooke at Velvet and Linen. How silly to think that I had to go overseas to find you and your right here in Australia.

Prue Ruscoe is certainly a very clever and creative photographer. I also went to school with Prue and her sister for many years, however I never got to work with Prue with my styling and magazine work as I was heading away from Sydney when she was starting.
She was very creative at school as well.

Well done on your great cover for Country Style and I do look forward to coming back and visiting you often. I will add your link to my styling blog list.

From a fellow Aussie stylist,

Coty Farquhar

The cover looks so inviting. You two are the dynamic duo!

Lovely job Shannon - i got mine in the mail a few days ago. You must pinch yourself sometimes, you have my dream job!! I wondered where that photo was taken! Am taking the girls ( + 1 boy) down your way for a b'day picnic over the weekend..have borrowed 1 of your books from the library and am looking forward to getting stuck into it and getting some lovely ideas as a bit stuck lately. Shan,

Finally I've figured out how to post a comment - I'm not particularly blog savvy. Spunky cover - methinks that gorgeous blue blanket looks rather familiar...

Thought that spot looked familiar!!! Used to catch the train from Lismore as a kid to go to Byron for the day!!! Wonderful memories!!!!!! Gorgeous cover but I know your wonderful work first hand!!!!! Luv C xxx

HI Mel,
This pic was taken on White's beach - a very secluded, isolated beach up here at byron Bay. You have to walk down a couple of hundred steep steps to get there - which was tricky with bags of styling things, cameras etc. Going up was even harder!!!

Hi Shannon. The cover is just gorgeous. You're know you're living my dream, right? :) Your makeshift shelter is brilliant and I just love the colors you selected.

Such a classic issue,Shannon! It leapt off the shelf and screamed 'Mamma take me home!' I loved the article on Tracey Hocking (I always enjoy Alix Johnson's words combined with your work) And Tilba Tilba is to die for. I have long coveted a gypsy caravan to read in the back yard but sadly no space. Susan Southam's book is definitely going to end up in my collection.
I too love the direction Country Style is going in. It really makes all of us who long for tree and sea changes but live in the city drool. xx

Shannon,

Beautiful! We have been advertising in CS for a while, so I get sent a copy in the mail - but it hits the stands before then and this particular cover leapt out at me and I couldn't resist buying a copy. Your location looks like one of those places that once visited you want to close your eyes and go there again.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work for CS. I like where that magazine is going at the moment. It has a younger feel ...
