A Precious Gift...

I love that my 10-year old daughter Inez has taken up sewing - doing chores around the house over the past six months to save up enough money to buy her first Singer sewing machine. These days, she spends all of her free time sewing - everything from a skirt, to an apron and little presents for the family. This one she made for me with fabrics that she chose all by herself! Isn't it so cute. I can see this one framed and on the wall at home...

Your daughter has style (just like her mother). To sew something like this at 10 years of age is incredible! Very beautifully done & very, very cute.

How amazing that Inez is getting into sewing at such a young age and with such passion. I wish I had, I might be better at it now....

On a completely unrelated note: can you give us some insider tips on your favourite white interior paint? I would love to know what you have used in your house (I know you have discussed the exterior colour in an earlier post). I have heard Dulux Lexicon is the colour most art galleries use as it is supposedly a neutral white, but would love to hear your point of view.

What are refined creative flair to have at 10! Its so well thought out and put together. I myself am a daughter of a seamstress and have only mastered the art of sewing loose buttons onto my husbands business shirts(and Im 28). Keep up the wonderful blog! Ezabelle

HI all,
Thanks for your lovely comments. Inez has been asking for me to post something of hers on my blog for 'forever' however she was sooooo embarrassed when I showed her this! What a funny little thing! It is great to see her so into something so creative though. I think she's caught my grandmothers sewing gene - she was a seamstress and made the most beautiful clothes for my mother and her sisters. Sadly, that particular gene skipped my mother - and me! - but it's heartening for it to have been passed onto Inez and also a cousin of hers too.

You would have to be so proud of her! I think that is utterly fantastic & the fact that she saved up for th sewing machine herself is really wonderful. I finally got the Inside Out and love what you've done with your beautiful house. I hope you have many years there enjoying the serenity! Am hoping to try out that Dragonfly restaurant you mentioned if i can convince the rest of the family (they all love Bangalow so and yum cha so fingers xxx), Mel xxx

Fantastic work Inez....she might like to see the woodland faeries quilt i have just finished sewing the top of for the bushfire appeal Shannon. Funny about the gene...has her aunt encouraged her at all?

Please tell her if you have a flickr account i would love to show that off in some of my crafting groups...she sounds like my kind of girl..I was sewing my clothes by hand at that age so am thrilled she has a machine!

That is an amazing piece of craft from Inez! I couldn't sew to save my life and so I'm very impressed. Yes, it would be wonderful framed and that is something you will treasure all your life. I've seen the photos of Inez and she is beautiful. Talented as well! x
