It's The Little Things...

Why, Happy New Year all!!! 2011 is here - and I can feel in my bones, this one is going to be great... But of course, aren't they all? Every year is a gift, I say, particularly for those of us who are free to choose how we mould our years... How we shape our lives... Where we spend our days.... I feel so grateful to be spending my new year traveling with my family... Seeing the world not only through my eyes but through those of my children... When you travel you realize that it is really is a small world after all and what a gift it is to be free... Traveling reminds us that we are all just people, trying to make our way through the minutes, hours and days that make up our lives... And that it's the little things that mean the most...
And so, this year I vow to live, love and breathe life into the little things because it's these small moments in time that when put together, make up the storybook of our lives... Oh, it's going to be good year I say - and so, welcome 2011 - I can see that you and I are going to be great friends...

The Little Things So Far...

A Moment of Peace...

Knowing You Have Somewhere To Go...

Enjoying The Joy That Is Colour...

Remembering Familiar Places and Faces...

Tapping Into The Curious Mind of Designerly Genius (i.e shopping for beautiful shoes!)...
 The Excitement of the Unexpected....
The Happiness Found in a Bag of Sweeties...
The Freedom You Feel When You Fly...
The Wonderment Seen in Innocent Eyes...
The Promise of What Lies Ahead...
 The Enormity of Grand Design...
The Opportunity to Share a Meal...
Touching Base With The Child Within...
The Inspiration Found In Creativity Everywhere...
The Hope of a New Day....

Thank you for sharing these truly special images and your evocative lines surrounding them.

It is a a gift to receive the opportunity of a new year and it will be wonderful to learn how we each unwrap and treasure them.

Thank you also for this image of the Eiffel Tower, I'm currently reading 'Eiffel's Tower' which is all about this amazing structure, the man who created it and the Word Fair in which it was the centre piece. This view shows the duality between it's enormity and delicacy and celebrates the creative genius required to envision and bring to life such a wonder.

Blessings to you Shannon and all that you treasure most,

Dear Shannon, thank you so much for your post. I woke up this morning to find it number one on my blog-roll. yesterday was the 1st here in NZ and I was was thinking about all the things i want to do this year, and how to go about writing them. Your words were inspiring and I shall now go and actually write my welcome to 2011. And indeed, the little things in life are what life is made up of. I wish you and 2011 all the best.

Shannon Beautiful thoughts & images !
We are looking forward to 2011 also as this is the year of travel for us.
You are so right about seeing the world through childrens eyes , my 8 year old is into art (which I never was) & now I can see the colours & forms all around as she describes them to me , we have trips to art galleries together , I even did a painting art class recently on a trip to Hamilton Island & came home with my first real painting ever.

Oh My don't know what is more beautiful and devine the simplicity in the use of simple words the glorious pictures or the memories of once visiting some of the places you've been. Thankyou for the inspiration, a tingle in my heart and a smile on my face.
