An Atlantic Day...

Oh, I do love those days when the mags hit the new stands - it's so old fashioned I know in this day of digital and all - but could there be anything sweeter than settling in with your favourite mag, cup of tea in hand and flicking those gorgeously beautiful and tangible pages? I am a magazine girl at heart, it's true... I remember to the day when I fell for them for the first time - 12 years old - buried in the local new stand, for hours and hours during the weekly Thursday night shopping expedition that I shared with my mother (followed by a sweet corn and chicken soup at the local Chinese!) Ah, those were the, long gone, days! Anyway, I digress...
To this day, I feel the same joy when I see my favourite mags hit the stands - and it doesn't matter where I am in the world - my first stop is always a book store and mag stand!
Seeing this months issue of Inside Out sent those shivers up my spine - in particular because the cover story is one produced by my friend Prue Ruscoe and I, of the gorgeous Kim Amos and Stephen Eakin, owners of the Atlantic Guesthouse in Byron Bay. Kim and Stephen have an enviable lifestyle - they appreciate every day and seize each moment as it comes. Knowing them, (as is the case with all extraordinary people) I know well how hard they work at shaping their worlds - the beauty of their home and their life is a testament to the many hours of thought and work that they pour into each minute. I'm very excited that their home has made the cover of the mag - as I know it is a dream fulfilled for Kim... Congratulations guys! Such a beautiful story. Makes me want to move to Byron Bay and renovate a weatherboard!!!

I am completely head over heals a magazine girl forever. My heart starts to beat a little harder when I see the new issues have arrived. I always check the mail everyday right away in anticipation of a magazine and don't subscribe to a few on purpose so I can buy them at the stand! Unfortunately I won't be able to see this issue right away as I am in the US but I look forward to devouring every page! Congratulations!

I found your blog from another blog that I am linked to and I must say that I LOVE it! It always lifts my spirits. It makes me want to move to Australia so badly! You live in such a beautiful place!

Hi Shannon, I agree about the joy of buying a new home mag and racing home in anticipation of a cuppa and a nice slow browse. As a young teenager my girlfriends were busy buying Dolly magazine whilst I was buying Home Beautiful. Living in the u.k. I am missing the Aussie publications (my sister just sent me the xmas Inside Out), and although I have always bought the some of the u.k. products when I lived in Aus. at the minute I'm a bit 'over them'...probably cause I'm missing home and summer!Robx

I bought this last night after our trip to the beach for fish'n'chips for tea. I am really happy with our little life down here - but, for the first time in a long time, I read this story, viewed the pics and completely fell in love with their lifestyle. The weather. The home. The skate rink in the back yard (and don't even get me started on that silver stunner!!). I'm pretty sure it loosk great in real life - but I also know your talented eye (and Prue's) no doubt helped portray the beauty in this house. Great work Shannon.

Now, let me get back to drooling and wishing for a new life in a place just like this (-:

Totally agree! Nothing better than settling in with your favorite magazine. I start lurking at Indigo days before Living,Etc. comes I look forward to it never miss it and totally devour and enjoy it. I love blogs too but there is nothing like having something you file in your home it's always there to the rescue and I can go back to them all. At Christmas time I look AT ALL MY DECEMBER ISSUES and fall in love all over again.
