After The Flood...

If it is at all possible to find beauty in destruction then I think that Robert Polidori has captured just that in his moving photographic essay - After The Flood - a series of interior photographs that chronicles the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I first came across this book whilst looking for a gift for my good friend and work amie, Prue Ruscoe and was struck by the sensitivity and beauty that Polidori captures in what is otherwise tragic circumstances. Although the images are disturbing, and not what we're used to seeing in glossy interior's magazines, I thought that I'd share them with you anyway. They remind me that beauty found amongst sadness can be the most beautiful of all....

They are so melancholy and like great master artworks. They also show me how all our material things can be defeated by nature. I find them quite frightening and bleak in a beautiful sort of way.

wow, these photos do have an eerie beauty. more so then the obvious destruction, the feeling of silence and stillness that is captured here is what does it for me.
