Jocelyn Warner - Wallpaper Art
If you're a regular to my blog then you've you've probably worked out that I'm a big wallpaper fan. I find that it's such a lovely way to add an element of eccentricity to a space. I'm always excited when I come across a wallpaper designer whose work I've never seen before and was overjoyed when a colleague introduced me tot he beautiful designs of Jocelyn Warner. Jocelyn launched her own wallpaper label in 1999 with a collection of hand printed wallpapers which were created by scanning plants and objects at life size, then manipulating them on the computer to simplify their form. Her unique style, which includes repeated patterns and organic forms are contemporary with an edge of quirkiness, and at times eeriness. They'd certainly contribute to a very unique interior indeed.

Learn About Colour
Photograph by Prue Ruscoe from Shannon's book 'sense of style: colour'
Are you interested in learning about how to use colour in the decoration of your home? Then come along to the next 'Love Your Home' decorating workshop at Casuarina on the Tweed Coast - about a 15 minute drive south of the Gold Coast. There's two dates to choose from - either Tuesday 18th June or Saturday 22nd June from 10am-2pm.
The workshops are very intimate (20 people maximum) and loads of fun so you're sure to get a lot of personal guidance. If you'd like to book then go to the workshops tab at www.shannonfricke.com.

Design inspiration can be found in anything - from the colour and form of the petals on your favourite flowers to the blue of the sky, to the exciting creations found in our man made environments. The source of colour inspiration that I'm using in my home is the feathers of a peacock. I love the way the blues and green intermingle with the dark chocolate/grey tones. It makes for such an enigmatic combination. Here are some favourite peacock inspirations to muse upon.

Cloth
When I think about textiles that represent the Australian landscape like no other, it is the work of Julie Paterson from Cloth Fabric that springs to mind. Printed onto hemp, and linen, these screen printed textiles are natural, textured and and very chic. Check out her showroom in Surry Hills Sydney for a big burst of inspiration or online.

As a big lover of ceramics, I'm always on the search for beautiful pottery to decorate the home. And, I can't talk pottery without mentioning the wonderful Jonathan Adler. His work is witty and fun and like nothing else around. So this post is to pay homage to work of the wonderful Mr Adler. I'd love to live in his world!
