Bloomin' Lovely...

The folks at Bloomingville have done it again - bringing us laid-back style with a twist of cozy - with their signature effortless ease. There is something about the light up there in those Nordic nations - it is so muted, so soft, so accommodating. Down here in Australia our light is as bright as can be - even on a cloudy day (!) - and so our colours translate with a brightness that makes things difficult to ignore. Such subtlety is a welcome relief - and so these pics are for your Tuesday viewing pleasure...

Pretty In Pink...

What is the perfect shade of pink? Soft and pretty? Loud and feisty? Or perhaps tinged with a little watermelon? A touch of salmon perhaps (oh dear, reminds me of the 80s grey and salmon colour palette fave which could be making it's way back into fashion??) Perhaps you like your pink more coral than salmon? Being a fire sign (read: rather feisty at times!) I do like my pink to come with a little fire... A notice me pink... One that says, 'I'm here/Look NOW'.... Sadly, as much as I love a hot pink, it does not like me. Living with it is a no, no - I can't eat, sleep or think straight around it... So, this luscious shade of pink and I must have our affair from a distance... Perhaps the perfect kind? That way, I'll never tire of it...

Happy Weekend All...

My goodness everyone - is it Friday already? Where oh where has the week gone? Well, as we slide into the weekend (which for me means loads of shooting with Prue, who is up here for a few days, and writing) I hope you get the chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty...

Pure Lushness For A Monday...

Aaaah... could there be a more sublime way to begin the week than with a series of photographs - filled with wallpaper and fabrics from the Thibaut range... I'm completely in love with these patterns and colours - they remind me of days well and truly past - the days of classical design and layered interiors. Or should I say, days well and truly here again! How funny, that it was only a year or two ago when the world of design was obsessed with modernity and clean-lined (often vacuous interiors!) - what a relief that these days we are seeing interiors infused with more love and individuality - where you sense the people living in the space and not just the space itself... What heaven this is - I'm just like a pig in mud...

Sunday Greenhouses...

Just a little quickie pic of this gorgeous greenhouse - situated somewhere in lovely London. Oh, I'm completely obsessed with greenhouses - I'd dearly love one up here at the farm - except that it gets so hot here that the glass roof (even double glazed) would surely kill off the plant life....

p.s a big thanks to Germaine over at SomeHomeTruths Blog for the lovely profile on me, which is up right now. If you'd like to read Germaine's interview with me - then head here... Thanks G...

Lazy Lounge Lizard...

Well, you know it's Sunday afternoon - and in my house, Sunday afternoons are for lounge lizarding - with the obligatory cup of tea and cake in hand... It's got me thinking about lounge rooms and what makes the ideal kind... I've never been one for an overly formal lounge room - one where you don't know where to sit for fear of mucking up the cushions. I like my lounge rooms to be the relaxing kind. Wide sofas positioned well to take in, not only the view and the bookcase, but the television! A fireplace helps too - particularly on chilly winter evenings. A large armchair too - the kind with duck feather filled cushions and wide armrests. A coffee table, rug (mine is on the way all, can't wait to show you!) and photographs of the family.
I fell in love with this little lounge room the first time I saw it. It's simple but cozy. Just the place to be on a lazy Sunday afternoon...

Spring Is In The Air...

Well, how couldn't I be joyful on a beautiful day such as this... Would you believe that Joe, my 10 year old, has been swimming in the ocean today... The beautiful, aqua coloured ocean... Spring is in the air all - and I hope not just a fleeting visit....

English CourtYard Chic...

Ah - my heart skips a beat when I see images of rambling spaces like these. Those that feel a little like they've been thrown together - or perhaps, left to collect dust! They feel so homey - so relaxed - so unpretentious... These pics really did catch my eye - can't you just imaging sitting out there in the courtyard, cup of tea and lovely piece of tea cake (or 2...3?) Enjoy everyone...

Late Night Travelling...

Sunday night seems as good a time as any to do a little traveling - cyber style. Tonight, I'm in Paris - hanging out in the Marais - the charming and cobbly arrondissement that can't be beaten for beautiful shopping and eating...
This beautiful apartment (part of the Contemporary Hotels Group) is located on Place Des Vosges - and is just the kind of place that I'd like to rest my head after a busy down traipsing Parisian Streets.
Happy Travelling all...

Bright Laura...

I have a soft spot for Laura Ashley - the gorgeous homewares store filled to the brim with chintz happiness and florals galore. They remind me of my time passed - of days spent basking in old English country inns and my aunties house in Sydney. There's something very comfortable about florals and chintz - they feed the soul - they are feminine and unabashedly girly. And so, I was very surprised when these pics from the latest at Laura Ashley arrived in my inbox. Contemporary colours, shapes and styles, in a mix of textures and groove. This was not the Laura Ashley of old. In fact, this girl is as modern as can be. And I love it... Good on you Laura for giving us such bright and fun colours, with a mix of Laura patterning of old. These designs are as fresh as can be...

Blog Clog...

Just a little note to say that something strange is happening over here in my bloggy world and some of your comments left to enter the ceramics giveaway are not coming up on the blog. Perhaps it's that we are on 99 comments and we've got a new millennium issue - not sure - but don't lament as I am receiving all comments via the email as well - so if they don't show up on blogger, I do have them on file and everyone will be entered into the draw.

p.s I'm blown away by the response by the way - you guys rock...

Corner Shrine...

What could be lovelier than creating a little corner nook filled to brim with all of the things that you love - a shrine to your life and loves and your decorating faves... This little shrine is as cute as can be - filled with light and glass and all things ethereal and fragile...

p.s talk about an overwhelming response to my Sunday Giveaway - thanks to everyone who has left a comment - you're all going into the draw to win one of my Shannon Fricke HOME ceramics. There are three in total - one each for three fellow bloggers. Good luck all - and keep checking back as I'm going to draw the winners on July 10.

Giveaway Sunday...

Hi Guys,
I thought that it would be fun to do a little giveaway this Sunday...
And to share my beautiful range of Shannon Fricke HOME ceramics with the world! I have developed a mini range of one-off, divine ceramic vessels (alongside the talented Lucy Vanstone) - which I have been selling exclusively at my workshops. They are just the most lovely things - fine and crisp in the purest range of colours. Each piece has been especially created by hand with love and attention to detail. Today, I'm offering three readers the chance to win one piece from the range, each. If you're interested in winning, leave a comment here by the 10th July to go in the draw to win. As no two pieces are the same, I won't be able to promise which one the winners are going to receive (it will be a lovely surprise...), but it will be beautiful. Good luck all...

I've been scouring around the Blue Caravan website of late - and have come across these fabulously funky woolly adventure pics. So heart warming, now that the weather has turned.
I hope they provide some chilly winter inspiration.
